Academy of Ukrainian Music Award

On 8 November 2024, the Northern Cultural Capital NGO, together with Chernihiv cultural patron Anton Artemenko, launched the annual Academy of Ukrainian Music Award. The nominees will be representatives of the cultural sector who contribute to the industry and promote the cultural landscape of Chernihiv in Ukraine and abroad.

When was the Award established?

The award was established in November 2024 by the NGO “Northern Cultural Capital” in collaboration with Anton Artemenko, a patron of culture from Chernihiv.

Who is the Award intended for?

The “Academy of Ukrainian Music” Award is intended to support artists working in Chernihiv who, through their achievements (works), promote the cultural landscape of the city, popularize the northern cultural capital of Ukraine, both in Ukraine and abroad.

What are the criteria for nominating candidates?
  • Commitment to the profession
  • Innovation
  • Significant contribution to the development of a particular art form or the cultural environment as a whole
  • Results of work that contributed to the popularization of the city

Only representatives of the cultural sphere who work in Chernihiv and have remained in the profession for the past 5 years can apply for the Award.

Who and how determines the laureate of the Award?

Candidates for the Award are nominated by members of the Chapter.

The Award Chapter consists of 7 individuals. Regardless of the year, the Chapter includes two members of the NGO “Northern Cultural Capital”, Anton Artemenko, a patron of culture from Chernihiv, a representative of the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Chernihiv City Council, representatives of the public sector of Chernihiv, as well as the laureate of the Award from the previous year.

When is the Award presented?

The “Academy of Ukrainian Music” Award is presented once a year in November – as part of the celebrations of the All-Ukrainian Day of Cultural Workers and Folk Art Masters.

What does the laureate receive?

The laureate receives a statuette, a certificate, and a reward of 5000 thousand UAH.
